

Born on October 24, 1944 in Huntington, WV, she was the daughter of the late Booker Thomas Witt and Ester Lowry Witt.
Mary was retired from Lynchburg Social Service after 44 years of service. She was of Presbyterian faith and enjoyed beach trips with her family, animals, and helping others through her job.
In addition to her husband, J.C., she is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Nelson and husband Scott of Lynchburg; son, Michael Wood and fiancée Heather Hurt of Chesapeake; and two grandchildren, Carolyne Nelson and Freya Wood.
The family would like to send a special heartfelt thank you to the staff of Seven Hills Hospice for their loving care of Mary during her illness.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with Rev. William Montgomery officiating.
