Mattie Wood Toney

Born in Amherst County, February 24, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Walter Francis Wood and Ana Mae Wood. She was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center after 25 years of service.

She is survived by two sons, Robert L. Toney, III and his wife Peggy of Lynchburg and D. Wayne Toney and his wife Brenda of Madison Heights; four grandchildren, Michael Wayne Toney and wife Jennifer, Leigh Ann Ruhland and husband Rod, John Robert Toney and wife Traci and Donald Wayne Toney and wife Kendra and seven great grandchildren, Emily and Elizabeth Ruhland, Peyton and Erin Toney and Robbie, Kathryn and John Toney.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2015 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Janet Hawkins officiating.

The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the staff at Avante and Centra Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Mrs. Toney.
