

Born March 27, 1951, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Cecil Willard Godsie and Mary Frances Godsie.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one brother, Norvell Godsie and wife Elizabeth of Staunton; two son's, Craig Godsie and wife Heather of Lynchburg, and Nathan Godsie of Lynchburg, brother in law Carlton Moyer and wife Penny of Fredericksburg, six grandchildren; Ambria, Trever, Caden, and Jaxon Godsie, and Makenzie and Logan Royal, and three close lifelong friends Gene White, Earl Layne and Mike Cundiff.
Mervin was the owner of Mervin’s Auto Repair in Lynchburg, which he established in 1985. He enjoyed spending time at their beach house at Surfside Beach for the past five years. He was an avid gardener raising vegetables every summer and also enjoyed woodworking. Mervin loved four-wheeling with his sons and friends in the Blue Ridge Mountains and various other locations. Dove and squirrel hunting was one of his favorites.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 15, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 16, 1:00 PM, both at Whitten Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Timberlake Chapel with Chaplin James A. Whitaker officiating.
