He was born in Lynchburg on June 27, 1958, son of Christine Wright Burnett and the late William Lee Burnett, Sr.
Mike was retired from NB Handy. He enjoyed the outdoors especially camping and fishing. He enjoyed baseball and was an avid reader with his favorite genre being Science Fiction.
In addition to his mother, Christine, a brother, William L. Burnett, Jr. (Jo Anne) and a sister, Susan H. Burnett (Diane), survive him. He is also survived by his companion, Stephanie England as well as a niece and a nephew.
