Michael Stephen Smith

Born August 19, 1954 in West Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Ernest Warner Smith, Jr. and the late Ona Fay Moxley Smith. Mike was a retired Customer Service Engineer with IBM.

In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by his son, Stephen Michael Smith of Gladys.

Mike was a member of Boy Scout Troop 50 while he was growing up in Mahwah, NJ. His proudest achievements were when he attained the Order of the Arrow and then made Eagle Scout.

As a car enthusiast, Mike really liked to maintain and repair his own cars, and often helped others with his automotive knowledge and mechanical ability. He was a Ford guy and loved high-performance cars. He had modified or rebuilt several cars over the years, including “Tweety”, his bright yellow 1989 Mustang, which he currently owned. He loved to watch auto racing, especially Formula 1, NASCAR, and NHRA drag racing.

Mike was also an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and was so excited about the phenomenal season they are having this year. He was anticipating them possibly going to the Super Bowl. Fly Eagles Fly!

Mike will be missed by all of his pets. He had the very affectionate family cat, Zeke, and three birds: Sunshine, the parakeet; Sydney, the cockatiel; and he will be especially missed by his constant companion, Ziggy Stardust, the sun conure, who never left his perch on Mike’s shoulder when he was at home.

A memorial service to celebrate Mike’s life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, for one hour prior to the service.
