

Born February 12, 1921 in Macon, Mississippi to the late Harrison D. and Betty F. Cockrell, she was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Buford A. Whorley and her son, Gregory A. Whorley, Sr. She was a lifetime member of Fairview United Methodist Church, where she leaves many cherished friends.
Nell is survived by her children, Betty W. Elliott (Kenneth), Michael A. Whorley (Brenda), Daryl L. Whorley (Rachel), and Paul L. Dooley (Sharon); two sisters, Betty Wooten and Kay Murray; grandson, Gregory A. Whorley, II (Teresa); a daughter-in-law, Vickie Whorley and all their children and grandchildren; a beloved sister-in-law, Mary Albert and niece, Bonnie Burnette and family.
She lived a life of complete devotion to her husband, family, church, and friends. She loved gardening, cooking, line dancing, and animals of all descriptions.
A celebration of Nell’s life will be held at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with a gathering of family and friends at 10:00 a.m. for one hour prior to the service at 11:00 a.m.
A private burial will take place at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the staff of Runk & Pratt on Leesville Road for caring for our mother, as if she were theirs.
