

Born in Athens Co., OH, she is the daughter of the late William James Golding and the late Nellie Pierce Golding. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lois G. Strawn.
Neva received her BA in Education from Ohio University in 1942 and took Master Degree courses at Lynchburg College. She was a retired reading specialist from the Lynchburg Public School System and a founding member of Peakland Baptist Church. She was a past Chairman of the Board of Central Virginia Area Agency on Aging, a charter member of the Virginia Baptist Hospital Auxiliary and a member of P.E.O. Chapter BC of Lynchburg. She and her husband, Jimmie, basketball coach at E.C. Glass High School and former Mayor of Lynchburg, loved children and were parents to many.
She is survived by 2 children, David P. Bryan and his wife, Suzan, of Forest and Rebecca B. Gilbert of Evington; 5 grandchildren, Sherri Gilbert and her soul mate, Delmas Campbell of Lowesville, Christopher Gilbert and his wife, Amber, of Rustburg, Ashley Winfield and her husband, Andrew, of Madison Heights, Sheryl Bryan and her husband, Roger of Ashville, N.C. and Stephanie Barton and her husband, Darrell, of Maple Grove, MN and 14 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2016, in the Commons at Westminster Canterbury with a reception to follow on the Bridge.
