Ola Ramsey Wood

Ola Ramsey Wood, 81, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Guggenheimer Nursing Home.

Born February 26, 1930 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Elmer and Zelma Moore Ramsey and was also preceded in death by one brother, Curtis Ramsey. She was retired from Jackson’s Drug Store.

Mrs. Wood is survived by six children, Patti Armstrong and husband, Robert of Arlington, TX, Vicki Lawson of Waxahachie, TX, Diane Wood, David Wood, Sharon Bruffy and husband, Ray, and Timothy Wood, all of Lynchburg; one brother, Joseph Ramsey, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Madison Heights; one sister, Shirley Burns of Lynchburg; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Barbara Ramsey of Bedford.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2011 at Virginia Memorial Park with the Rev. Charles Hughes officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the home of Shirley Burns, 1015 Mill Stream Lane, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
