

Ollie Bennett Dalton, Jr., 84, of Rustburg, went home to be with his Heavenly Father, Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Signora Woodson Dalton. Born May 29, 1927, in Campbell County, he was the son of the late Ollie Bennett Dalton, Sr., the late Ethel Neighbors Dalton and he was the adopted son of Richard M. Green.
Mr. Dalton was a retired foreman for the State of Virginia Department of Highways, where he worked for 43 years. He was also a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church of Rustburg. Mr. Dalton also served our country in the US Military during World War II. Mr. Dalton was always called “Captain Smiley” and he had a smile to everyone he met.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dalton is preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin E. Green and Vernon M. Green.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Dalton is survived by six children from a previous marriage - three daughters, Linda Seacrist and her husband Bert of Rustburg, Cathy D. Dalton and her fiancée Kenneth Viar of Lynchburg and Susan D. Tyree of Rustburg; three sons, Ronnie E. Dalton of Concord, Bobby W. Dalton of Lynchburg and Charles Hendricks and his wife Cathy of Appomattox; one step-daughter, Alice Signora Clingenpeel and her husband Eddie of Mooresville, NC; one brother, Calvin W. Dalton and his wife Nettie of Rustburg; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel conducted by Dr. Wayne Green and Rev. Leland Ditman. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park, where the American Legion Post 16 will present Military Honors.
The family will receive friends, 2-4 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
