Dr. Oscar Lee Blanchard

Born July 20, 1935 in Morgantown, KY, he was the son of the late Medford Lee and Dixie Douglas Blanchard and was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Mr. Blanchard was retired from the U.S. Army, where he served his country during the Vietnam War. He was an Ordained Minister and had Doctorate Degrees in Theology, Ministry, and Religious Education. He was a member of Solid Rock Church in Madison Heights.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Blanchard is survived by three children, Roger Blanchard of Madison Heights, Kathy Ward and husband David of Conyers, GA, and Alan Blanchard and wife Dianna of Stockbridge, GA; four grandchildren, Patsy N. Blanchard, who Dr. Blanchard and his wife Patsy, raised as their daughter, Jonathan Wayne Gilbert, Tabitha Cole, and Kayla Blanchard; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Blake Cole and Aubrey Lynn Cole; one brother, Larry Blanchard of Bowling Green, KY and a sister, Edith Gibcomb of Morgantown, KY.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Solid Rock Baptist Church with Deacon Torrance Hedricks and the Rev. Dr. David Cash officiating. Military honors will be provided by the National Guard Honors TEam.
