

Born June 4, 1940 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph T. and Lorna Johnson Watts and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jane Martin and Gaynelle Harris and two brothers, Earl Watts and William “Ebb” Watts.
Mrs. Powers was retired from Valtim Corp. and was an employee of Chapstick for thirty-eight years. She was a charter member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Powers is survived by two stepchildren, Ricky W. Powers and wife, Judy and Danny Powers and wife, Betty, all of Lynchburg; two sisters, Mildred Gardner, also of Lynchburg and Ann Moon and husband, Robert of Rustburg; one brother, Bennie C. Watts and wife, Iris of Lynchburg; four step-grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Ben, and David; twenty-seven nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Dr. Jim Moon, the Rev. David Heerspink and the Rev. Charlie Harbin officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2009 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the residence.
