

Born February 9, 1939 in Millstone, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Arthur Sewel and Bessie Mae Rosencrance Gear.
He was a retired Nurse’s Aide with Central Virginia Training Center with twenty-five years of service and also with Security Forces, where he served for approximately eight years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, an avid fisherman and enjoyed building model cars.
Mr. Gear is survived by his son, Paul Edward Gear, Jr. and wife Amanda of Lynchburg; his daughter, Tonya Bomar and husband Robert of Forest; three grandchildren, Krista Leigh of Rustburg, Kaitlyn, and Meagan, both of Bedford; three step grandchildren, Zackery of Lynchburg, and Tyler and Amber, both of Bedford; and a special feline friend, Ginger.
A memorial service with military honors by the Virginia National Guard will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Chaplain Jim Whitaker officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
