Born April 17, 1928, in Halifax County, he was a son of the late Charlie Edward Burks and Bessie King Burks. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Korea and prior to his retirement he was owner operator of Boonsboro Barber shop for 35 years. P.T. had a love for antiques so after his retirement he opened a shop in Peddler Antiques Mall in Forest. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
P.T. is preceded in death by a son, Michael D. Burks and three brothers, Curtis Burks, Robert L. Burks and Edward C. Burks
In addition to Brenda, he is survived by two sons, Thomas E. Burks of Manassas, Charles P. Burks, of Richmond; daughter, Karen B. Sirignano and husband, Al of Pittsboro, N.C.; brothers, Lawrence A. Burks and wife, Sylvia of Forest, Frank Burks and wife, Debra of Level Cross, TN, J.R. Burks of Ashboro, N.C.; sister, Thelma B. Trent of Lynchburg; grandson, Daniel N. Burks, of Germany; and also Brenda’s son, Brent and wife Julie Campbell and their two children, Grace and Harrison Campbell.
A Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by the Dr. Rick Ewing. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery in Altavista.
The family will receive friends at Whitten Timberlake Chapel Wednesday, October 12, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and other times at the residence of Brenda Campbell.
