

Born February 17, 1957 in Roanoke, he was the son of M. David Karnes of Evington and Bessie Scott Karnes of Lynchburg and was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Karnes. Perry was the owner & operator of Karnes Construction Co. and was the former Chief of the Boonsboro Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
“Perry was the kind of guy who never met a stranger and would literally give you the shirt off of his back”.
In addition to his parents, Perry is survived by a daughter, Jessica K. Fisher and husband Jacob; a son, Trevor J. Karnes, all of Forest and two very special grandsons, whom he loved dearly, Coleson and Colin Fisher. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Kelly M. Karnes and a special friend, Lynn F. Martin.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Grant Harbridge officiating. Interment will follow at Altavista Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
