Obituary of Ray Neal Tidwell
Ray Neal Tidwell, beloved Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother and Husband of Concord, VA, peacefully passed away on July 5th, 2024, to be reunited with the Lord. Born in Lynchburg, VA, on September 30, 1965, to Rudolph Tolbert Tidwell Sr. and Nanny Ashby Tidwell, Ray lived a life filled with love and generosity. Ray had a passion for classic cars, with his beloved 1959 Ford Fairlane holding a special place in his heart. He found joy in music, particularly Bluegrass and Classic Country, often listening to his favorite artist, Merle Haggard. Ray's hobbies included playing guitar, relishing the outdoors, and showcasing his handiness through carpentry and homebuilding projects. He was also an avid supporter of the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Known for his unparalleled drive and determination, Ray was always willing to lend a helping hand, regardless of his own circumstances. His selflessness touched many lives, earning him admiration from all who knew him. Ray was a devoted father and grandfather, a loving husband, and an inspiration to those closest to him. He is preceded in death by his Father Rudolph Tolbert Tidwell Sr. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 36 years, Sherry Lynn Tidwell; his sons Anthony (Stacey) and John (Tory); and the light of his life and little best friend granddaughter, Annemarie Tidwell. He is also survived by his mother Nannie Ashby Tidwell of Lynchburg, VA, his brothers Kenneth (Janet) Tidwell of Madison Heights, Randy Tidwell of Lady Lake, Florida, William Curtis Tidwell of Lynchburg, and Rudolph Tidwell Jr. (Charity) of Lynchburg. He is also survived by multiple Nieces, Nephews and a large extended family. His legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Spring Hill Cemetery.
