

Born in Lynchburg, April 16, 1936, he was the son of the late John Albert Berger and Elizabeth Wisecarver Berger. He was retired from the U.S. Army National Guard, the Virginia Department of Transportation and was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church and was a member of the Mackey Masonic Lodge #69.
He is survived by one son, David A. Berger of Lynchburg; one daughter, Rebekah A. Daughtry and her fiancé Leagene N. Alexander of Lynchburg; one sister, Mary Berger of Orange; four grandchildren, Michael W. Goff, Haleigh A. Daughtry, Catherine “Abbi” Berger and Chelsie A. Berger and a special friend of the family, Frances Lewis.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Heritage United Methodist Church with the Rev. Will Montgomery officiating. The family will host a reception following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Centra Hospice, 3300 Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24503 or to the Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center, 1701 Thompson Dr., Lynchburg, VA 24501.
