He was born on March 19, 1952 to the late Richard and Eunice Hawkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother in law Ray Sauls.
Richard worked for 21 years at ESP Inc. before retiring from Alliance Industrial. He loved to travel especially to the beach. He was a member of the Virginia Corvette Club, American Legion Post 16 and Moose Lodge #1727.
He served in the US Army and graduated from Brookville High School.
He is survived by his longtime girlfriend Becky McFall of Monroe, VA her family John, Renea, Little John, and Jordan Brunner; his son Richard Leroy Hawkins, III (Rebecca); his granddaughter Leah Gauthier (Chris); grandson; Matthew, sister; Becky Sauls, niece; Sarah Grigg, great niece; Mackenzy Grigg, and special friend Bruce Moses.
He will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #16. Pastor Roger Childress will officiate.
