

Born on July 17, 1944, in Chester, Pennsylvania, Robert was the son of the late George N. Closs and Marie L. Closs. He is also preceded in death by his brothers George Closs, Jr. and David Closs, his sister-in-law Norma Closs, and one beloved grandchild.
A graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1963, Robert later completed the Liberty University Home Bible Institute program in 1996. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Lynchburg.
Robert retired from a career in customer service at Lowe’s. He was involved in several community and church organizations, including the Legionnaires, the Knights of Columbus, the Order of Franciscans, and served as a Scout leader.
He enjoyed walking, camping, and woodworking, and loved spending time outdoors. Robert cherished his family and held a deep love for his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and his faith.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Roberta J. Closs; four children, Bryan Closs (Connie), Robert “Mike” Closs (Neva), Matthew Closs (Vanessa), and Jennifer Closs; two brothers, Carl Closs and Gregory Closs; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In honoring Robert’s wishes, services will be private.
