
Bobby was born May 7, 1925 in Detroit, MI. He was the son of the late Luther Heck and Martha Norma Heck Norris. Bobby is survived by his daughter and son-n-law, Martha and David Bachman, his granddaughters, Amy and Leslie Bachman, his former wife and dear friend, Betty Heck as well as many sister-n-laws and brother-n-laws, a mother-n-law, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Barbara Prager and his dearest friend, John “Hobo” Harris.
Bobby proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II where he served in the 136th AAA gun battalion. Following the war, he traveled across the country with the family business until he found his real home in Lynchburg, VA. Bobby was a retiree of Macke Vending Company and also worked for many years at Kroger. He was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church since 1965 where he taught Sunday school and was always ready to share his testimony. He was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. Bobby enjoyed family trips, golfing, and playing games with the family.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 8, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Moon officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors by American Legion Post #16.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
