

Robert Harran Kenefake died at the York Convalescent and Rehab Center in Yorktown, VA on February 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Bob, as he was known to his family and friends, was born in 1941 in Schenectady, NY. He was the 3rd son born to Edwin W. Kenefake and Anna Marie (Harran) Kenefake.
In 1945, the family moved to Syracuse, NY where Bob attended Most Holy Rosary school through the 11th grade. His family then moved to Lynchburg, VA where he graduated from Holy Cross High School. Throughout his formative years, Bob was very involved in sports, especially basketball, and numerous other clubs and activities.
Upon graduation, Bob entered the U.S. Army and served three years in Turkey as a Nuclear Weapons Electronics Specialist. Returning to Lynchburg after his military commitment, Bob attended VPI & SU in Blacksburg, VA for two years. Shortly thereafter, he began a successful career in sales for various companies, including his work as a certified moving consultant in charge of government accounts for Allied Van Lines/ Victory Van Corp. in Alexandria, VA.
Bob was a true “people person”, was always quick with a new joke or a new card trick and loved meeting all kinds of people. He enjoyed listening to all types of good music, most especially rock and roll. In his earlier years, while living in Sterling VA, he was instrumental in starting a community tennis club and a new local chapter of the Rotary Club.
Bob married Karla Vander Schaaf in 1977. He was the loving father of two sons, Ryan of Edwards, CO and Jeffrey and wife Caitlin of Jeffersonton, VA.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother George Kenefake. He is survived by his brothers, Thomas (Barbara) Kenefake of Gainesville, VA, Vincent Kenefake of Naperville, IL, his sister Mary Patricia Kenefake Hogan (Michael) of Newport News, VA, sister-in-law Sandy Kenefake of St. Augustine, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation and his memorial service will be held Friday, February 18, 2022, at 11:00 am at Whitten Funeral Home Chapel, Timberlake, followed by the internment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Lynchburg, VA.
