He was born July 29, 1935 in Harrisonburg, VA to Charlie and Edna Nichols.
Ron led a full life. He retired from flight operations at United Airlines, retired as a FAA air traffic controller in the Leesburg center, and was an United States Air Force veteran. In addition to completing high school in Lynchburg, VA he earned a Bachelors degree from Southeastern University in business while working as a full time air traffic controller. During his career he was also an instructor at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City.
Survivors include Janet Klinger, children Jeff and Lisa Nichols, sister June Hunt, and his favorite aunt, Stella Smith.
A funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Chaplain Jim Whitaker officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16.
