IN THE CARE OF
Whitten Timberlake Chapel
Shirley T. Jefferson, 92, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late A. G. Jefferson, Sr.
Shirley received her teaching degree at Bob Jones University and taught in the Lynchburg and Campbell County School Systems. Jesus Christ was big part of her life and she celebrated that with the members of Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church for many years. She had many friends who helped and visited her in her last years.
We want to thank Generation Solutions for their care over the last years, especially Karen Mahanes who dedicated a lot of love and care to Shirley over the last few years. Also to Don Sweeny who handled her legal affairs. All of these people are greatly appreciated by the family.
In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Maude Martin Tomes and Dallas Lee Tomes; a loving aunt and uncle, Margaret Martin Carter and James Edell Carter, who helped raise her after her mother died; another aunt and uncle, Rudy Martin Carter and Tudor A. Carter; and a brother William Tomes.
Shirley is survived by three nephews, Jimmy P. Carter of Good, Paul L. Carter of New Albany, Indiana, and David A. Carter of Lynchburg.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date for her family and her church family.
