She was born September 13, 1932 in Lovingston, VA. She was the daughter of the late Willis Ruggles Fitzgerald Sr. and Pearl Moyer Fitzgerald.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Waverly Almond, and a brother Willis Ruggles Fitzgerald Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Monica Troyer (Bill) of Lynchburg. Her two grandchildren, Logan Troyer of NYC, NY and Ian Troyer of Lynchburg, who affectionately addressed her as “Nunu”. She is also survived by her brother, Marion Fitzgerald of Madison Heights, and several neices and nephews.
To say she was special is an understatement. She had a vibrance that touched everyone she encountered. Everyone loved her and she loved everyone. We as a family shared Shirley with so many friends, many whom, like Logan and Ian, knew her as “Nunu”. She made everyone she met feel like they were the most special person.
She would want people to smile and be happy. So, please join us to celebrate her life on Thursday evening, April 5th, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Fairview Christian Church. The Rev. Jack Hamilton will be officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
