

Born in Lynchburg, She was the daughter of the late Thomas Kennerly Scott and the late Amelia Hollis Scott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Scott Weenink.
Susan was a graduate of Salem Academy and Sweet Briar College. She also studied at Union Theological Seminary in New York City. She taught at St. Catherine’s School in Richmond and worked for the Episcopal Church in Hartford, CT, Summit, N.J. and Greensboro, N.C., as well as for the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. She also worked for agencies on aging in Greensboro and Lynchburg and was the Director of Jones Memorial Library in Lynchburg. She enjoyed her role as Community Concert representative for Columbia Artists in the 80s and was a devoted caregiver to her late mother. She recently volunteered for the Maier Museum at Randolph College. She loved to knit and adored her cats.
She is survived by her sister, Hollis Scott Stauber (Karl) of Danville; a brother, Tom (Ginger) of Columbia, MD and three loving nephews, Tom, Jim and Charlie and their families. Her cousin, Anna Deane Scott of Lynchburg, was like a sister as well.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Medical Care Center for their compassionate efforts this fall and winter.
