Born on April 28, 1953, in Arlington, VA, she was the daughter of the late John W. Spindle and Sylvia B. Spindle.
Sylvia worked at the Central Virginia Training Center for 28 years and retired in 2008. She had a sharp wit and a playful sense of humor that often-caught people off guard and kept those around her laughing. She enjoyed life to the fullest—whether she was playing cards or bingo, sipping her coffee, dancing, singing, or finding any reason to stay on the go. She loved going out, spending time with friends, and traveling, especially to the beach. Nags Head and the Outer Banks were among her favorite destinations, and she never missed an opportunity to put her toes in the sand and enjoy the ocean breeze.
Her greatest joy came from her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply and treasured every moment spent with them. She also shared a special, lifelong friendship with her best friend, Robin Hurt and embraced many “adopted” grandchildren over the years, treating them as her own. For the past 15 years, Sylvia also cared for her nephew, Charlie, in her home, showing the same love, devotion, and humor that she extended to all those close to her.
She is survived by her four children, Ruby Crews (Dwayne), James Creamer (Joanne), Bobby Creamer (Pam), and Ricky Creamer; her brother, Larry Spindle; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Timothy), Carleigh, Lyndsey (Anthony), Carrie Beth (Clay), Haylee (Colton), Sam, and Cody; two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Theo; her best friend, Robin Hurt; and numerous "adopted" grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor John Sines officiating.
