

Terry graduated from Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington, DC in 1956.
In 1959, Mr. Newman enlisted in the US Army where he was initially assigned to the 18th Airborne Corps Artillery as a radio operator. He later graduated from Basic Airborne School and was assigned to the 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment at Fort Campbell, KY. After leaving military service, Terry had a career in the garment industry working for Ace Uniforms Services, Linens of the Week, and UniFirst Corporation until he retired in 1999. Terry touched the lives of hundreds of kids as a youth football and baseball coach with the Mayo Athletic Association (1975-1983). He also developed, administered, and umpired a coach pitch baseball league in Mayo, MD for the younger kids and spent the past year driving a school bus for Lynchburg City. Terry was very proud of his service to his country as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division, and he was honored to volunteer at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA. He was inducted into the Archbishop Carroll High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010.
His parents, Thomas “Snap” and McAtee Noone, preceded him in death.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife of 24 years, Pat Newman; brother Billy Newman and wife Anne of Dunkirk, MD; sons: Terry “Toot” Newman and wife Sara, currently of Fort Polk, LA; Tim Newman and wife Jennifer of York, PA; Tommy Newman and wife Nella of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Tracy Newman of Edgewater, MD; grandchildren: Crystal Perdue of Glen Burnie, MD; Katie and Beth Newman of York, PA; Taylor and Terrell Newman of Fort Polk, LA; great grandson Trent Perdue of Glen Burnie, MD and a host of nieces, nephews and dear family friends. The Newman Family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the friends of Terry and Pat in Evington, VA who have provided comfort and support during this painful time. Mr. Newman felt extremely honored when asked to lay the wreath honoring the 101st Airborne Division at the upcoming 70th Anniversary of D-Day on June 6th.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Celebrant Polly Starnes officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16.
