

Born February 15, 1927 in Nelson County, she was the daughter of the late Lillie V. Gowen and was also preceded in death by a sister, Doris Coddington. She was retired from General Electric.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by five children, Wayne Phillips and wife Merissa, Michael Phillips, Mary Peters, and Lillie Phillips and husband Michael Richards, all of Lynchburg and Deborah Phillips of Newport News; a sister, Elsie Reynolds and husband Archie of Evington; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Phillips and Emma Woodford; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Steve Cole officiating.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mrs. Phillip’s caregiver, Denise West and to Dr. John Ed Williams.
