Thomas Lee Jefferson

Thomas Lee Jefferson, 84, of Forest, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the Privette Home. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Almond Jefferson.
Born in Greensboro, NC, July 20, 1929, he was the son of the late Alfred Jefferson and Ruth Howard Jefferson. Tom worked in sales for Craddock Terry Shoe Corp. for many years and later retired from International Shoe Co. Following his retirement he was the owner and operator of Westover Exxon on Memorial Avenue. He was a longtime member of Memorial Christian Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Tom was friendly and had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Laura J. Shannon of Forest; one son, Bruce L. Jefferson of Lynchburg and two grandchildren, Sarah Ann Shannon of Forest and Taylor Breanne Jefferson of Greensboro, NC.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Virgil Knipp and the Rev. Sue Knipp officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
