She was born in Campbell County on January 1, 1926. Verlie was 1 of 12 children born to the late Harry and Maude Thomas.
She was a member of Sandusky Baptist Church and was retired from General Electric. During her free time, she loved to work with her flowers and spend time with her church family.
Survivors include a sister, Elene T. Greeson as well numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Springhill Cemetery with Rev. Ed Vogt officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Sandusky Baptist Church, 915 Catalina Pl, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to, Leanne & Jewell with Centra Hospice as well as her nurses at Fairmont Crossing, Jackie and Sharhonda for all the care and love that they extended to Verlie.
