Born on June 6, 1932 in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late John and Grace Callahan.
Verna was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her special niece, Teresa Stephenson; great niece, Brittany Stephenson; great nephew, Anthony Stephenson and friend Scarlett Oakley; two special sisters-in-law, Patricia Callahan and Joyce Callahan West; and a host of other family members.
The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the staff at Centra Hospice and to the Campbell County Rescue Squad for compassion and support during Verna’s illness.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 pm on Friday, July 3, 2015 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Callahan Family Cemetery.
