Born on July 7, 1924, in Lynchburg, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James F. Wilson and Lillian M. Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence A. Tyler, and her second husband, John H. Beahm, Jr., as well as seven siblings: Carrie W. Hendricks, Helen W. Dudley, Lydia W. Parker, Fred Wilson, Ruth Ramsey, Jim Wilson, and Johnny Wilson.
Vernie retired from General Electric Corporation and was a longtime member of Langhorne Chapel Community Church. She enjoyed traveling and dining out, and she especially loved playing games on the computer, with a particular fondness for jigsaw puzzles. She also loved playing cards and participating in senior games.
She is survived by her two children, Robert E. Tyler “Eddie” (Janet) and Linda A. Tyler; three stepchildren, Eddy Beahm, Charlene Beahm, and Vickie Beahm; one sister, Mary W. Bryan; and numerous step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with Pastor Dwight Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
