

Violet Freeman Wright Banton, 95, of Lynchburg passed away Friday, January 08, 2016. She was the wife of her late first husband Clayton Leroy Wright and her late second husband Charles Wesley Banton. Born February 4, 1920, in Appomattox County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Finley Freeman and the late Zerelda Doss Freeman.
Violet was a retired switchboard operator for the News and Advance, and a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents and her first and second husbands, Violet was preceded in death by five brothers, Allen Freeman, Lindy Freeman, Clarence Freeman, Ollie Freeman and David Freeman; and one sister, Fannie F. Davidson.
Violet is survived by her three children, Wayne B. Wright and his wife Donna of Lynchburg, Bruce E. Wright and his wife Sandra of Lynchburg and Kathy W. Moore and her husband Forrest of Powhatan; one sister, Mazie F. Carr of Madison Heights; seven grandchildren, Robert Wright, Mark Wright, Justin Wright, Tracey Pugh, Pamela Davis, Travis Hamlett and Jeremy Hamlett; twelve great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Carla Litchford and Vickie Litchford and Jason for their loving care towards mom.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 11, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Rusty Coffey officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends, 3-5 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence of Bruce and Sandra Wright.
