Virgil Lee McCratic "Lee", born October 19th, 1942, to Clarence Vernon McCratic and Nellie Lorene McCratic (Lacy), in Oronogo, Missouri. Lee went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, July 12th, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Lee was a truck driver for Borrmann Steel of Burbank, California, for over 40 years, until his retirement in 2010. He had a love for cars, trucks, fixing things that needed fixing, Smith Mountain Lake, but he loved Jesus and his family, most of all. He provided prayer, wisdom, humor, and his one of a kind bear hugs to anyone who needed it. He was a member of Tree of Life Church and loved singing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Nellie; his wife of 55 years, Patricia; a son, John; three sisters; Wanda, Lorene, and Shirley.
He is survived by his loving wife, and companion, MiMi and her children, Shelby Cochran (John) & Justin McComb (Nikki); 2 daughters, Sheri Baker (Greg) and Tina McCormick (Rich); 13 grandchildren, Vanessa Goughnour (Erik), Michael DeGeorge (Tatiana), Andrew McCratic (Karla), Nicholas DeGeorge (Nicole), Matthew McCratic (Daisy), Candace McCormick, Addison and Olivia Gonzales, Dylan, Tyler, and Logan Kersey, Lucas & Silas McComb; nine great grandchildren; Scarlett DeGeorge, Willow Goughnour, Harrison Goughnour, Olivia DeGeorge, Matthew McCratic Jr., Melody McCratic, Mia McCratic, Jameson DeGeorge, Luke McCratic. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Tree of Life Ministries, 2812 Greenview Drive, Lynchburg, VA. Burial will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
