

Virginia Rosser Burnette, 90, of Rustburg passed away Friday, April 1, 2016, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Walter Curtis Burnette. Born March 29, 1926, in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Herbert Rosser and the late Erna Cyrus Rosser.
Virginia was a retired seamstress for Wilco Uniform Company and a lifelong member of New Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by one son, Charles Allen Burnette; one daughter, Brenda B. Shortridge; one brother, Charlie W. “Billy” Rosser; and one cousin and best friend, Margaret H. Torrence.
Virginia is survived by two children, Marie B. Arthur and her husband Billy of Rustburg and Junior Burnette and his wife Cindy of Appomattox; one sister, Jean R. Puckett and her husband Junior of Spout Spring; son-in-law, Michael Shortridge; sister-in-law, Darilla Rosser; six grandchildren, Will Arthur, Dee Dee Hicks and her husband Steve, Andrew Arthur, Lori Burnette, Brooke S. Wright and her husband Wyatt and Renny Burnette; two great grandchildren, Amanda Burnette and Jessica Hicks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Rita Cyrus and Ellen Tuck for their loving care towards Virginia.
A funeral will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2016, at New Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Dooley officiating. Interment will follow at New Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
Because of her love for animals, especially dogs, memorial contributions may be made to the All American Mutt Rescue, 5491 Johnson Mountain Rd., Huddleston, VA 24104.
