

She was born in Lexington, Va. on November 2, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Cyrus Bourne Hill and Margaret Higgins Hill. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Hill and Jack Hill and three sisters, Eleanor H. Judd, Peggy H. Haman and Rosemary H. Dolgner; several brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
In 1936, she married the love of her life, Sadik Ramey. After his death in 1966, she continued to operate the family business, Ramey‘s Grill, until 1976.
She is survived by three sons, Philip S. Ramey of Chester and J. Stephen Ramey and his wife Jennifer of Lynchburg and W. David Ramey of Barrow, Alaska; one daughter Ellen R. Morcom ((Joe Garrett) of Madison Heights; seven grandchildren, Adam Morcom (Jillian Reynolds), Carrie M. Nolan (John), Jonathan Ramey (Lori), Jaclyn Ramey, Jack Ramey, Lauren Ramey and Virginia Ramey; three great grandchildren, Cameron Nolan, Jack Nolan and Laila Ramey; a sister-in-law, FeFe Deeb; many nieces and nephews; Ray Morcom and many other devoted friends, especially her children’s friends. Her door was always open to them.
Virginia was an avid reader, loved to work crossword puzzles, play bridge, beach trips with her family and skip-Bo tournaments, which she taught her grandchildren to play. She volunteered for many years at Lynchburg Daily Bread. She was a strong woman, kind, joyful, curious about the world and valued the people around her above all else. She was a very special person who was loved by everyone that knew her. She will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
