
Virginia Maddox Travis, 89, of Lynchburg passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at the Runk and Pratt Assisted Living. Born February 25, 1926, in Appomattox, she was the daughter of the late Herman Weldon Maddox and the late Eunice Gallier Maddox.
Virginia was a retired aide for the Central Virginia Training Center and she was a member of Temple Baptist Church. After retiring with 35 years of service, she enjoyed bus trips, babysitting, bingo and special events at church. Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Steve Staton and her brother-in-law, Leroy Kessee.
Virginia is survived by her daughter Gail Staton of Forest; her son, A.C. McCann (Wanda) of Orlando, FL; her sister, Shirley Kessee of Lynchburg; six grandchildren, Rugenia Cohill (Jimmy), Kimberley Beasley (Reid), Stacey Kozial (Kevin), David McCann (Christi), Shannon Stakem (Glenn) and Scott Staton (Denniz); eleven great grandchildren; and two special friends, Helen Whitehead and Claudette Millner.
A graveside service will be conducted 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Earl Clarkson officiating.
There will be no visitation hours at the funeral home.
