Virginia Creasy Vaughan
April 28, 1939 – July 29, 2014
Virginia Creasy Vaughan, 75, of Lynchburg, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the University of Virginia Hospital. She was the wife of Joseph Franklin Vaughan.
Born on April 28, 1939 in Altavista, she was a daughter of the late Thomas McKinley Creasy and Willie Farthing Creasy.
Mrs. Vaughan was a retired nurse and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. She was also a faithful member of the Lynchburg AGLOW group. Most of all, she was a strong, faithful follower of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Franklin Vaughan of Lynchburg, a son, Terry Brizendine and his wife, Kari of Blacksburg, two daughters, Patricia Perdue and Donna Fariss and husband, Tom, both of Lynchburg, a stepson Joe Vaughan and wife Kathy of Spout Springs, two stepdaughters, Sharon Irvin and husband Roger and Ursula Hamlett and husband Joey, all of Appomattox. She was preceded in death by a son, Steve Brizendine and a husband, Benjamin Brizendine. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Michael Goff and Whitney and children Jordan and Kaidon, Candice Bowman and husband Kyle and children Parker and Elliott, all of Lynchburg, Kathryne Jackson and husband Henry and soon to arrive daughter, Dorothy of Birmingham AL, Kent Brizendine of Blacksburg, Zachary Fariss, Caitlin Conklin and husband Caleb, also of Lynchburg, Brandon Vaughan and wife Julia and children Chloe, Hallie, and Sadie, Erin Elliott and husband Jason and children Jace and Ian, and Shana Irvin, all of Appomattox. She is survived by five sisters, Shirley C. Burkholder of Lynchburg, Nancy C. Dawson and her husband, Derrill of Altavista, Gail C. Baker and her husband, Bernie of Hurt, Robbie C. Adams and her husband Billy of Altavista and Sharon C. Porterfield of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Henry Vanabore of Grit, Ronnie T. Creasy and his wife, Helen of Lexington, N.C. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Dr. Ricky Ewing officiating. Interment will follow at Old Concord Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service starting at 10 am.
