

Born in Fayetteville, NC, January 15, 1936, he was a son of the late George Arnold Brinkley and Ida Belle West Brinkley. Bill attended the University of North Carolina and proudly served our country in the US Army in the 98th Army Band. He was the former owner of Royster Fertilizer Co. in Lynchburg then later went into real estate sales in Lynchburg, Appomattox and Smith Mtn. Lake.
He is survived by three sons, William David Brinkley and his wife Barbara of Poquoson, James Arnold Brinkley and Michael Thomas Brinkley and his wife Holly all of Lynchburg; two daughters, Joy Brinkley of Lynchburg and Bilynda Mitchell and her husband Austin of Roanoke; one brother, Dr. George Arnold, Jr. of South Bend, IN; two sisters, Joanne Duck of Carey, NC and Betty Westbrook of Myrtle Beach, SC and eight grandchildren, Sarah Brinkley, Rebecca Brinkley, Constance Brinkley, Anne Brinkley, Megan Brinkley, Nicole McKenzie, Kaylin Farris and Jarryd Lee.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Celebrant Polly Starnes officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park with military honors by the American Legion Post 16.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
