William N Millward III

William Newton Millward, III, passed away on October 29, 2020, in Lynchburg, Virginia, surrounded by his loving brothers. William had been a resident at Heritage Hall, Brookneal, Virginia. He was born on March 22, 1956, in Belleville, Illinois. With his father in the US Army, they moved a lot and lived in Germany (twice), Oklahoma, Maryland, and Virginia. William graduated from West Springfield High School, Springfield, Virginia, and later completed an Associate Degree at Northern Virginia Community College where he loved architectural drawing. William had sustained a head injury as a result of vehicle accident in 1974. This put him on a different path in life. William worked through ServiceSource for many years, and cheerfully mastered the Northern Virginia and Washington DC transit systems. William was a blessing to all who knew him. William was preceded in death by his parents, William N. Millward, Jr. on August 7, 2004, and Nancy Ann Strunk Millward on May 10, 2005 (both interred at Arlington Cemetery), and sister-in-law, Sandra Custis Millward on November 25, 2017. William was survived by three younger brothers: Michael A. Millward (Cathleen) of Durham, North Carolina; David E. Millward of Painter, Virginia; and Frederick C. Millward (Leslie) of Lynchburg, Virginia, and five loving nieces and nephews: Caitlin, Michael, Alison, Riley, and Connor (Samantha) Millward. The Memorial Service took place on May 21, 2022, at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Springfield, Virginia. William was laid to rest in the church’s memorial garden. William had been a member of St. Christopher’s for many years.
