Obituary of William David "Bill" St. John Jr.
William David “Bill” St. John, 76, of Lynchburg went to be with his Lord Sunday January 27, 2019. Born in Brookneal, September 4, 1942, he was the son of the late Coleman Waddell St. John and Carrie Smith St. John. Bill was an insurance agent for the past 50 years, he was retired from Allstate after 25 years of service. He was a member of Thomas Road Baptist church where he served in the choir for a number of years. He was a Washington Redskins fan and loved historical and old war movies. He also enjoyed meeting his friends every morning at McDonalds. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Frances Wilson “Pooky” St. John; one sister, Florence St. John McKinney and two brothers, Kenneth Warren St. John and Waddell Tommy St. John. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly D. Mattox and her husband Ronald; his son, William David St. John, Jr. and Julianne; two brothers, Bobbie Coleman St. John and Thomas Wayne St. John; two sisters, Virginia L. Noblin and Joyce Ann St. John Marshall; three grandchildren, Carrie Mattox, Christopher Mattox and Logan Delong and two great grandchildren, Evie and Dawson Smulik and his little Pomeranian, Sadie. A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Thomas Road Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Bullman officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Pike Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. The family would like to thank all of Bill’s friends for their visits, cards and prayers.
