

Adelle Westmoreland Rowan was born May 25, 1920 to Jeff and Martha ( Sullivan ) Westmoreland of Phalba, Texas, from the age Adelle started to school, she wanted to be a school teacher just like her first grade teacher, Miss Alene Johnson. Adelle went to Phalba School her first eight years, and then rode a school bus to Canton where she graduated in 1938. She then spent two years in Jacksonville Baptist College. IN 1943 graduated from East Texas State Teachers College. Adelle taught four years at Phalba and the remaining 32 years in Pleasant Grove and Dallas Independent School District. She retired from DISD in 19778. During that time in Dallas, God gave them a son, Michael. He was the joy of their lives. That’s where most of his life was spent. Adelle and her husband and son moved to Cedar Creek Lake in 1973and then to Mabank in 1992. She has lived in Mabank ever since. Her husband, Odell, passed away in 1996.
Her mom, Martha Westmoreland and dad, Jeff Westmoreland, six brothers – Jerome, John (Bud), Deyo, Theodore, Howard and Bonnie; two sisters – Ammie Shelby and Abbie Brown all preceded her in death.
Survivors are her son, Mike, and wife Sandra; a grandson, C.W. Rowan and wife Shawna, great-grandsons, Connor, Randall and C.J.; great-granddaughters, Michaela and Morgan, all of Mabank, and a host of friends and family.
She will truly be missed by all.
