

Alene was born on September 30, 1929 in Kaufman County, Texas to parents Thomas Sapp and Edith Lockwood and entered into eternal rest on August 3, 2014 at the age of 84. Alene was a quiet but firm strong willed lady. She was very artistic and talented. Alene would create her own patterns and sew dresses for her daughters. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery and needle work. Alene enjoyed working in her flower beds and taking on all the orphan kitty cats. She attended Prairieville Schools and was married to Roy Gene Smith for 56 years before he passed in 2003. Together they raised 3 wonderful daughters. Alene hung wallpaper in homes and commercial buildings and was very meticulous about it. She was a member of Eastern Star and a past matron. Alene was Baptist by faith and a lifelong member of Prairieville Baptist Church. Alene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy Gene Smith, son-in-law Ronnie Powell, great-granddaughters; Shelley Dawn Haley and Leah Bryn Powell , two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her daughters; Laurette Powell Rogillio and husband Tony, Roylene Dyer and husband Billy and Teresa Owens and husband Ernest, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Jerry Don Sapp and wife Kathy, sister Deborah Sue Franklin, special friends Dorothy and Gene Hyde, a host of extended family and friends. The family wished to express a special thank you to Bristol Hospice and hospice nurses; Rebekka and Sherrie.
