Celebration of life services for Artie Jack Greenwood, 90, of Gun Barrel City, Texas will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Payne Springs Cemetery in Payne Springs, Texas. Visitation with the family will be held Friday evening at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Artie passed from this life on March 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 27, 1933, in Lot, Texas to Artie Ballard and Grace Florence (McKenzie) Greenwood. Artie grew up in Frisco and McKinney, Texas where he made many friends and met the love of his life in Mary Lou who he married on September 22, 1952. He loved to dance and enjoyed racing cars. He also liked to sit on the front porch listening to music while telling stories to family. Artie was a loving father who was a well-respected man in the community by all who knew him.
Artie is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary Lou Greenwood; daughter, Linda Wright; son, Mark Greenwood; parents, Artie and Grace Greenwood; sister, Shirley Asher.
He is survived by his daughters: Mary Jean Smith, Rita Mae Overstreet and husband, Johnny, Michelle Sanford; son, Artie Jack Greenwood, Jr.; grandchildren: Gregory, Melissa, Amanda, Belinda, Miranda, Barbara, Mark Anthony II, Charlie, Kenny, Chad; numerous great grandchildren and adored nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Greg Smith, Jeremy Melton, Jimmy Buffalo, Mark Greenwood II, Tim McElroy, Charles Martin and Charlie Greenwood.
