Celebration of life funeral services for Betty Jo Files, 87, of Mabank, Texas will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Lake View Assembly of God Church in Seven Points, Texas with Reverend Keith Williams and Reverend Tom Taylor officiating. Visitation with the family will be held Friday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Betty Jo passed from this life on August 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 16, 1936, in Centerville, Texas to Grover Cleveland and Minnie Etta (Kuhn) Richey. She grew up in Cayuga, Texas and graduated from Cayuga High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, Wesley Files, on June 8, 1956, and was blessed with 63 wonderful years together. They worked as an amazing team around the country to help build churches and Betty Jo was a mother to everyone she met. She loved spending time with her grandkids while she also enjoyed going to church, singing, traveling and gardening.
Betty Jo is preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley Files, Jr; son; Gregory Cleveland Files; parents: Grover and Minnie Richey; brother, Jerry Richey; sisters: Virgie, Opal; sister-in-law, Carolyn.
She is survived by her son, Wesley Kent Files and his wife, Rebecca; daughter, Shelia Fahy and her husband, Steve; grandchildren: Nathan, Amanda, Kendra; great grandchildren: Alayna, Jacey, Emmett, Sophia, Patrick, Sebastian, Sadie, Shelby; brothers: GC, Billy, Jimmy, Bruce; sisters: Pamela, Martha, Donna.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Fahy, Patrick Fahy, Cheyenne Barrett, Teddy Bradley, Mandy Jo Anderson, Kendra Bradley with Honorary Pallbearers being Alayna Jo Anderson, Sophia Fahy and Jacey Anderson. Betty Jo will be laid to rest at New Salem Cemetery in Centerville, Texas at 2:00 pm on August 31, 2024.
