Judge was born at home in the Big Rock Community near Eustace, Texas on August 26, 1938, the sixth child of 11 children born to Robert and Ida Jane "Janie" Bryant Busby. His father gave him his nickname at a very young age, declaring that, like a judge, he always had to have the last word.
In 1955, Judge joined the United States Air Force and on April 5, 1957, married his young sweetheart, Colene Phillips. Judge's military career took him and his family all over the world. His first priority was to his wife and children, always ensuring they were provided for; and with his loving wife by his side, they made sure home was established wherever they lived.
After twenty years of service to his country, Judge retired and re-established residence in Mabank where he then became a rural mail carrier. After retiring from the U.S. Postal Service, Judge became a full-time rancher with a hay bailing business.
Both Judge and Colene enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and listening to country western music. They also enjoyed gathering family and friends for fish fries, horseshoes, darts, card games and 42 at their "Party Barn."
Judge is survived by his eternally devoted wife, Colene, his two daughters, Lorinda Busby, and Mary Lindamood and husband Bryan, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Garry.
Other surviving family members are sisters, Vona Nason, Wanda Prokop and husband Bill, Linda Oliver and husband Horace, Louise Gibbs and husband Mike, and brothers, Bob Busby and wife Linda, Don Busby and wife Charlotte, Rickey Busby and wife Bettie, sister-in-laws Rena Busby, and Janie Busby and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Janie, and three brothers, Aubrey, Rdell and Pete.
Judge will be greatly missed by his many friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
