Dollie was born on October 4, 1913 in Rosenburg, Texas to parents John Wesley and Clara (Ford) Wells and entered into eternal rest on March 16, 2018 at the age of 104. Dollie was the youngest of seven, three brothers and three sisters. In 1915 the family moved to Greeneville. Her parents bought their first new home in Dallas in 1918. Dollie’s dad called her Baby Doll. She attended Mt. Auburn school and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in January of 1932. In 1934 she married Theodore Roosevelt Roe. They had their first child, Don, and Theodore passed away in 1939. Then she married Irvin D. Holland in December of 1939. Together they had two children; Patricia and Irving Daniel. Jobs were hard to find, so in 1950 they created their own job by buying a café and renaming it “Holland’s Drive-In”. Irvin was the cook and Dollie made homemade pies and kept the customers happy. In 1975 they retired and moved to the lake. Irvin passed away in 1976. Dollie stayed busy being active with her family and church. She loved people and being around them. Dollie had a beautiful laugh and loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren, there was always so much laughter. Dollie was part of Eastern Star for over 60 years. She liked being outdoors and going fishing. Dollie was a member of the Payne Springs United Methodist Church since 1978. She enjoyed playing 42 and was part of the “42 Club” at the Senior Citizens Club, where she went once a week and the Cedar Creek Domino Club. Dollie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Dollie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Theodore Roosevelt Roe, husband Irvin Holland Sr., son Irvin Holland Jr. (Danny), grandson Don Roe Jr. and grandson Bobby Ottmo.
She is survived by her son Don Roe Sr. and wife Diane of Gun Barrel City, daughter Pat Mangono and husband David of Mabank, daughter-in-law Betty Holland, grandchildren Kim Bryce, Jeff Holland, Sarah Townson, Crystal Areos, Bonnie Gant, Leroy Wooldridge and Cathy Roe Sharp, 19 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, other loving family members and many more friends.
