On February 3, 2021, Dolores Mabel (Longtin) Goforth took her last journey to meet the savior she had loved for so many years. Standing at the gate to welcome her was her husband and life long love, Johnny Lawton Goforth. Mom was born on October 25, 1931 in Midwest, Wyoming to L.C. and Mabel Anna (Cook) Longtin. She grew up living in an oil camp in Overton, Texas. She graduated from Overton High School where she met Johnny. In 1950, they were married and Mom began the adventure that would take her to College Station, Manhattan, Houston, Mesquite, and finally Mabank. Her life was filled with joy as she and Johnny traveled this country, collecting depression glass and exploring places of history. She loved her role as wife and mother and was the best at both.
Surviving her are her daughters, Roseanna James (Steve), Kathy Birket, and Tammy Rinehart (Shane), along with seven grandchildren, Katey Crackel (Brandon), Kelley Strom (Brad), Michael Tudor (Nicole), Stephanie Thayer (Eric), Amy Garrett (Bo), Kim Pritchard (James), Stephen Tudor, and 19 great grandchildren.
Preceding her were her parents, LC and Mable Longtin, her brother, Louis Jr. and her husband Johnny.
Mom, along with Dad poured their lives into those around them. They served as Girl Scout Troop leaders, worked with the Awanas at First Baptist Mabank, and began the Senior Adult Get Together until their age slowed them down.
There will be a private graveside service for the immediate family on Saturday, the 6th of February.
