

Donald Morgan Salyer of Mabank, Texas went to be with his Father whom he had served so well on November 21, 2017. Don was born on May 22, 1931 to Ava and Wade Salyer in Texon, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eva Lorene Salyer, and sister-in-law Joyce Salyer. Don is survived by his wife, Dora Cox Salyer, his children Kimberly Hall and her husband, Rick of Tyler, Glenn Salyer and his wife, Tammy, of Duncanville, Rodney Salyer of Mabank and by his grandchildren Jed Hall, Jack Salyer and Nadia Salyer. He is also survived by his brother, Ted Salyer of Tyler and nephews Gary and Scott Salyer.
Don attended the University of Texas Austin to become a pharmacist. After finishing school he served in the Army in Germany as a pharmacist. He then attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, attaining his Masters in Religious Education. After seminary, Don and Lorene moved their family to Warren, Ohio to work in supporting and starting new mission churches. Don and Lorene moved back to Texas in 1982 eventually moving to Mabank and owning Family Pharmacy. After retirement, Don fulfilled his dream of being a missionary in other countries. He was part of medical and construction mission trips to places such as Mexico, Cambodia, Philippines and India.
Pallbearers will be Jack Salyer, Gary Salyer, Shane Cox, Dwayne Cox, John Hunter and JC Gregory.
