Donald Warren Trull was born August 24, 1936 at home in San Antonio, TX, to Oscar & Estellene Warren Trull. They moved to Mabank when he was 9 years old. He graduated from Mabank High School with the class of 1954 and went to work at Sears & Roebuck in Dallas.
He met the love of his life, Dee Cannell, in Dallas in 1958 and they married in May 1959. Shortly after, he was drafted into the Army, serving 2 years and 3 months. His service was extended due to the start of the conflict in Vietnam, and the situation in Cuba. He spent most of his service at Ft. Benning, GA.
Upon returning to Dallas with Dee and his new baby daughter Amy, he went back to work for Sears & Roebuck and the family moved to Lancaster, Tx. After adding three more children to their family, they bought a small farm in Van Zandt County in the community of Elm Grove. Don started as a carpenter on new houses and eventually had his own business doing cabinets and trim work around the lake area. He was very proud of being able to build the altar and pulpit when the First United Methodist Church built their new sanctuary in 1974.
After remodeling 2 homes, he finally was able to build a new home for his family. When the children left home, he and Dee traveled all over the United States, visiting most of the 50 states. He and Dee never visited Hawaii. He would have gone there, but the car couldn’t drive on water.
Don passed away Saturday, January 8th, at home in Elm Grove. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Vonnie Dover. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Clara Edith “Dee”; daughter, Amy Kologinczak and husband Paul; son, Jeffrey Trull; daughter, Pamela Lawson; son, Thomas Trull and wife Angie. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Bradley Trull and wife Raelee, Amanda Dodd, and Elizabeth Dodd; and one great-granddaughter, Layken Trull.
He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. The family would like to thank Cedar Creek Hospice for all of the love and care given to him and the family.
