

Doris Black, age 82, of Mabank, Texas passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022. Doris was born July 17, 1939 in Ennis, TX. to parents, Ernest E. Shue and Ruth J. Swearengen. On February 9, 1957, she married the love of her life, John Black. She was a devoted and doting mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother; who loved baking and spending time with her family. Doris was creative and inquisitive, using her skills in crafts, word finds, sudoku puzzles, and reading books. Christian by faith, she praised her Lord faithfully at the Phalba Independent Full Gospel Church. Doris was an active member of Tops, (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) an interactive club that has helped thousands over the years to lose weight. She will be truly missed by all of those she loved and met.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest E. Shue and Ruth J. Swearengen; loving husband of 65 years, John Black; and son, Dennis Black.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Holland of Mabank, TX.; son, Michael Black and wife Pattie of Mabank, TX.; sisters, Margie Ruth Boatman of Waxahachie, TX. and Margaret Kropp and husband Stan of Durant, OK.; brother, Gary Don Shue and wife Sheryl of McKinney; grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Beau Burelsmith, John Dawdy and wife Tiffany, Wendy and husband Joe Law, Carissa and husband Matthew Ortolon, Brandon Black, Dennis Black Jr.; 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A Celebration of Life service will take place Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home; officiated by Reverend Dwayne Mixon. A Burial will occur immediately after service at Elm Grove Cemetery; located in Mabank, TX.
